No more Car

While none of you really need to read this I want to post this here so that one day if I so feel like it I can look back and see what I felt.

On Tuesday, December 11th I got in a car accident. I slipped on a patch of ice probably a good 15 ft long or so, couldn't find traction/couldn't stop so I rear-ended a semi. It wasn't a full semi (not that it really makes a difference) but it was like a 20 ft one or so.

It's actually kind of funny because prior to this accident my car wasn't that great, it kept burning oil so I had to keep bringing it into the shop so they could try and fix it and after the last time it was in the shop they said that if it wasn't fixed now they would just get me a new car completely on their sales department, and then 2 weeks later I get in an accident. I guess there's no free car for me now.

I'm fine, I really am. I have a sore back but it's slowly getting better. Today was the first day I didn't take any pain meds, probably because I finally went to the chiropractor. The day after the accident I was fine but I woke up that Thursday (the 13th) totally sore and couldn't move a whole lot with out hurting. So that Saturday I went and got my first massage and it helped a little bit for the rest of the day but come Sunday I was really sore again, and at this point I was popping 3 ibuprofen at least once maybe twice a day, so I was getting desperate. I woke up monday Tuesday morning in enough pain that I had to go lay in a ball on the couch to be comfortable so I knew it was time for something else, I called and made chiropractor appt for Friday, the 21st.

Friday came, I went to work then to the chiropractor where I got to fill out a freaking novel about myself and then I finally got to see the doc. The instant he cracked my back I had immediate relief in my lower back (which is where it hurt the worst.) The day went on and I was still sore, so I was thinking to myself, well what the heck nothing it going to help me get better now, but now 2 days later I'm still sore but it's much better than it was on Friday. I'm going in to the chiropractor again this coming Wednesday and then again on Friday. per their request.

So basically all is fine, I survived my first car accident but no one was seriously injured.

My friend Josh was with me (we were on our way to school) and he's probably a foot taller than me and so he got knocked around more than I did. His knees hit the dash and were all bruised for a while. He also had his laptop out and that got totaled upon impact because the air bags deployed.

A Minnesota Winter

So Kelly posted about the winter, and I thought it was pretty funny and very true so I decided to do my own version of it.

1. Allow yourself about twice as much time maybe even triple the time after any snow. Even if there's less than an inch. All of a sudden everyone WILL forget how to drive.

2.  95% of people won't shovel their driveways, in which case getting up them will be one of the hardest things achieved, and your pants will become thoroughly soaked. In which case you will immediately want to take them off because no one likes wearing soggy pants.

3. That Grandma that usually goes 20 mph under? Yes, well she's now going maybe 5 mph, and that might be pushing it.

4. There will be at least 1 but as many as probably 5 accidents on any given day during rush hour during dry roads, now mix in snow, well all hell's about to break lose.

5. Can we just have all cars sold in minnesota 4 wheel drive? Because seriously trying to get out of a driveway/parking lot/road that has snow on it without 4 wheel drive before a car comes and hits you is hard. Wheels squeal, spin, and can't get any traction.

6. Sometimes if we're really lucky and mother nature just feels really generous Winter will last from October-April.

7.  This year we got lucky and the city decided that they didn't want to plow any side streets until this past Thursday/Friday. 4 days after the snow came. It was great.
-----> This is exactly what every road looks like.

8. And even better main highways had ice-packed snow on them for at least 2 days. It's crazy.

And THAT my friends is how you know it's a minnesota winter.

Josh Turner

Well taking a little break from D.C pictures I think I'll finally post about the Josh Turner concert I went to way back in September!

Let me just say that getting most of the Jimmy crew together and one of my friends is one hell of a time.

All the Jimmy's a twin sister, and my friend Dustin!

Ya know, just chillin' with a security guard.

twinskies!

Having a blast!

Niagara Falls

On Tuesday the 23rd after we went to Ford's Theater we made our way up to Niagara, New York. It was beautiful! And on Wednesday we went to Niagara Falls.

After Niagara Falls, we went to Fort Niagara and stopped off at Lake Ontario, I think. It might have been Eerie.

On that Friday, we left for home and another two long days of travel followed.

Washington D.C part 3!

On that Monday we got a tour at the bureau of engraving and printing(no pictures allowed), it was interesting to see how money was made, but if I had known what the tour was going to be I'm not sure I would have woken up at 7 to go take a tour at 8:15. After that tour that we had a tour at the Capital and that was great! Our tour guide was great, and I really enjoyed learning about all the history, and about how the statues are chosen for each room and such! After the capital we went to the the Air and Space Smithsonian Museum. I think at that point in the day we were so overloaded with history, that we kind of just went through the motions of looking at the museum. It was really cool but I wish we could go back and see it again so that maybe I could take some more info in.

That Tuesday the 23rd we were leaving D.C but before we left we visited Ford's Theatre. Can I just say that I'm practically obsessed with Lincoln, seriously I wish I was alive when he was president, I feel like he would've been a pretty cool guy.

I haven't downloaded pictures from my point-and-shoot which is where all air and space museum pictures are so for now just enjoy the capital pictures!!

This lady's name is "Freedom" and she's perched above the Capital.

FORD'S THEATER!! Exactly where Lincoln was shot. (Found out about how everything went down and learned so much! maybe I'll tell it in a later post)

Where Lincoln was brought after he was shot. He lived for another 9 hours after he was shot. This bed is probably smaller in length then a twin, and Abe was 6'2" they had to lay him diagonally so he would "fit"

One more recap post then probably another post with pictures I haven't posted yet!

Washington D.C part 2

On the second day of full sight seeing, the 20th. We went to see the white house. Funny thing, the round rotunda that everyone associates with the white house is actually the back of it, but the "duller" column's/rotunda is the front side! We also went to the National Aquarium which I didn't take any pictures of, and my dad and I also went up to the top of the Old post office tower and it was pretty cool!

On Sunday we went to the Arlington Cemetery and the National Cathedral, I didn't take any pictures of the Cathedral simply because while yes it was majestic I just felt that a church is a church, no matter how many gargoyle's you put on it. At Arlington we got to see the changing of the guards at the tomb of the unknown solider and that actually took most of the day to see. After we went out to dinner we went back to see the monuments all lit up, I was kind of disappointed that not a whole lot of them were lit up. So I just posted Abe who was the best lit up one.

Sorry for the photo overload ahead!

This was the executive offices building next to the White House and it was immaculate!

Washington D.C!! (part 1)

Well I'm finally recapping my trip to D.C! It was a wonderful trip and I really should download some from my mom's camera that captured me in my true form. haha

One thing you should know about me is that I love road trips but 11 hours in a car can make me a little stir crazy.

So we started out the trip on Wednesday the 17th at 4:30 and we drove to chiacgo. A total of probably 7-8 hours. I think we got into our hotel around midnight.
The next day we woke up real early (like 6am or something) and got on the road to Washington! A total of 11-12 hours. I don't think we got there until like 10 o clock, with a time change and multiple stops!

On Friday the 19th it was our first official day of sight seeing in D.C! We decided to do the monuments /national mall and then did the Holocaust museum. While the Holocaust Museum was really good, I was readed out after it. I feel like since I'm still kind of fresh out of high school I knew a lot of the info that I read but some of it was new. But no pictures were allowed, so here are some of my favorite monuments.

World War II memorial!

We visited more monuments and those will be in a  later post!
I probably won't be breaking it down day by day but we'll see!

Politics

Yes, the P word. I know everyone's sick of it(including me) but it's all around blog-world and I do have a few cents to add to everyone else's.  I should have posted this on Tuesday or even Yesterday but as I was being lazy yesterday I napped and watched tv instead. With that being said, this is what I have to say about the election.

-I voted for Obama, and he won and I'm happy about it. While I'm still really young and have a long way to go with forming educated views on politics I think Obama has done a decent job the last 4 years, and while yes, the economy still isn't great NO ONE can turn an economy around in 4 years. Also he was pro marriage-equality and that pretty much sold me. I would consider myself a "middle of the road" type person politically I don't always agree with one side or the other it's more so split 50-50, but because I strongly believe in the right to marry whoever you love, I voted for Obama.

-No one will actually move to Canada, seriously, my newsfeed on facebook was all about Canada and moving. Obama has not messed up your life SO TERRIBLY the last four years that you need to move. Besides the fact that if you think you can run a country better than why don't you run for president? It really bothers me people get SO upset about elections.

-I respect Obama and even if I don't like what he's doing for the country he's the president and he deserves everyone's respect even if you don't like him...at all.

Two other bloggers have written really great posts about their view of election day, check them out.
here and here
The first one is more of a democrat and the second one a conservative republican.

Also, Washington D.C and Josh Turner concert are forth-coming.

Return

I just returned from a 10 day trip to Washington D.C, and Niagara Falls! It was a really good time and I will hopefully be doing a small recap of the trip within the next few weeks. However, today is a day to recoup after spending 2 days stuck in a car!

I feel like I never post anything here anymore, and maybe it's because my life isn't exactly exciting. Besides for concerts, I don't have much to talk about. Maybe, after three years I've had enough of writing this blog. Maybe I've outgrown it a little, I'm not sure. While I know that if I got rid of this blog I wouldn't journal in a real notebook enough to be satisfied and sometimes my brain is just to full to do anything else until I write it out. But lately, there hasn't been anything up there to write about yet I've felt this pull for weeks to write about something. Anything.

I just felt like I should pop in and tell you guys why I never really post anything except concerts.

Jason Mraz!

well two weeks ago I went to the Jason Mraz concert! And let me tell you, little Jason Mraz has some moves, man! I'm a huge fan of acoustic music and this was my first acoustic concert since the Block Party and I'm glad it was him! Although I can't say that I know all or probably even half of his songs it was well worth! Except there was this lady in front of us, kind of annoying she was like at least 55 probably older and she yells "have my babies Jason!" Um, can we talk about awkward?!?!?!

I went with my best boy, Greg and his girl friend because my friend Zack was an asshole(sorry, but that was necessary) and backed out THE DAY before the concert! I was pissed, and now he refuses to pay me for his ticket!

Alas, I will never be bringing him anyway nor will I be friends with him.

Rascal Flatts

Oh once again I went to a concert at the state fair (that's three, count em three!) This one was also free to me. But it also involved a lot of drama. you see originally my good friend Troy was suppose to go with his girlfriend Megan, but then they broke up but neither of them wanted to give up their ticket so I really have no idea how I ended up going and let's be real, I'm not really a big Rascal Flatts however one of their opening acts was Eli Young Band and I'm a HUGE fan or them!! So without further ado, pictures:

Literally the best one I could get of Troy and myself!

But I wanted one of him actually showing teeth but he wasn't game for that...AT ALL.

Joe Don from Rascal Flatts

Rascal Flatts, and all of their opening acts!
