I just really need to say this. I've found that since being here I'm a lot more understanding and accepting of other peoples music. Like for example my roommate always likes to play her music while she's studying which I have no problem with, but the thing is sometimes I just don't want to listen to her music and want to listen to my own, but since she disapproves of it I generally don't play it when she's in the room unless I have headphones in. So today I struck up this conversation and asked why I "had" to listen to her music but she wouldn't listen to mine?
In this conversation what I say will be in red.
The answer? Because Kenny Chesney sucks. And I've heard it. Well that's awesome because I don't really like much of his stuff.
Well Brad Paisley or whatever. he sucks. Have you even given him a chance? No, oh didn't think so. And I've heard your stuff too, but still listen to that!
So you've heard of (insert band name here)? Well no, but I've heard of the artists you listen to, and some of them I don't like, but it's not like I tell you to turn it off. Like you do to me.
Yeah, well country still sucks. Yeah well, it doesn't just because you don't like Kenny Chesney doesn't mean everything is the same. Don't generalize.
Conversation end.
really? She had no actual reason to hate country music. And neither does anyone else here, and it just really bothers me that I'm actually open to listening to their music but the minute it comes to country music (or any other genre I play) they want me to turn it off.
Sucks.
